Do you only work on thrillers?

Yes, I specialise in thrillers and closely related suspense/crime. If your book is a blend (e.g., thriller + romance), feel free to message me first to check it’s a good fit.

Do you offer proofreading or line editing?

Unfortunately no. These services focus on story, structure and reader impact (plot, pacing, tension, stakes, character, clarity and payoff). I may point out recurring issues or patterns, but I’m unable to provide line edits or check grammar and punctuation.

What’s the difference between an Opening Pages Critique and a Manuscript Assessment?

An Opening Pages Critique looks closely at your first 10,000 words to strengthen hook, voice, stakes and pace.
Manuscript Assessments are a full-manuscript critique with a detailed editorial report and revision roadmap.

What exactly will I receive?

Depending on the service, you’ll receive a detailed critique (and for Manuscript Assessment, a 10-15 page structural report) with clear priorities and actionable next steps. You’ll know what’s working, what’s weakening tension/pacing and what to tackle first in revision.

How do I send my manuscript/pages?

After booking, you’ll receive instructions to upload your document or share a link (Word/PDF). Please send your files exactly as requested so nothing goes missing.

When does the turnaround time start?

Turnaround time starts once I have received all your materials in full, including any questionnaire details and documents.

What are your turnaround times?

Opening Pages Critique: 7-10 business days (Rush: 3-5 business days)
Query Letter & Synopsis Review: 5-7 business days (Rush: 72 hours)
Manuscript Assessment: 3-4 weeks (Rush: 2 weeks, limited availability)
Mentoring: sessions usually available within 7-14 days

Do you offer rush options?

Yes, rush options are available on selected services, subject to availability. Rush pricing is shown on the Services page.

Can you guarantee an agent, publication, or sales?

Unfortunately, no - no editorial service can guarantee outcomes. What I can do is help you create a stronger manuscript and/or pitch with clearer tension, pacing and payoff.

Will you keep my work confidential?

Yes. Your materials are treated as confidential and are used only to provide the service you booked. You retain full copyright in your work.

What file formats do you accept?

Word documents please - they are standard in the publishing industry. I'm also happy to accept PDFs.

Can I book mentoring as a phone call instead of Zoom?

Yes, Zoom is standard, but phone or WhatsApp audio is fine. Just note your preference when booking.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

You can reschedule once (subject to notice periods and availability). Please see the full Terms & Conditions for details.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds depend on timing and whether work has started. Full details are in the Terms & Conditions.

What if my manuscript is longer than the word-count bracket I booked?

Please try to book the correct bracket. If your word count is higher than the bracket selected, I may need to request payment of the difference before continuing.

Do you work with first drafts?

Yes, but you’ll usually get the most value once you’ve done at least one revision pass. If you’re not sure you’re ready, mentoring can be a great first step.

Can you tell me if my idea is marketable / help with agents?

I can give guidance on positioning, genre expectations and query materials, but I’m not an agent and can’t promise representation. The Query & Synopsis Review is the best fit for submission materials.
